Plant expansion at the Coroplast facility in Strzelce Opolskie

Finally – our new production building in Strzelce Opolskie has been completed. Begun in December 2016 and finished in September 2017, around 11,000 m² of production space along with office space and recreational areas for the Wires & Cables business unit have now been established at the site. Production activities for the successful Coroflex® line are scheduled to commence here at the beginning of 2018.

Completed on time, despite a delayed start and a harsh winter

The project got off to a sluggish start and construction only began in December 2016 after a considerable delay, caused by a long wait for the relevant authority to make an environment-related decision. Nevertheless, despite the late start and the frosty temperatures, the building project was finished on schedule. The construction company in charge of the project managed to complete the foundations and the building itself within only five months.

Change of plan during the construction phase

Before the main building could be completed there was a change of plan. To keep pace with the growing demand for our products, the plant building was enlarged and a central warehouse added to it. The finished plant, built for the Wires & Cables business unit in Strzelce Opolskie, around 70 km northwest of Katowice, comprises a production and warehouse building covering 10,280 m² as well as office and recreational space on an additional 1,340 m².

Preparations for production have been underway since mid-August. Currently, new extrusion lines and stranding maschines are being installed. The first Coroflex® industrial cables are scheduled to leave the new plant in early 2018. With this new generation of sensor and control cables, Coroplast is making a key contribution to the ongoing enhancement of automation technology. Coroflex® cables are used in a wide variety of applications, such as in hospitals, in the foodstuffs industry and in sterile environments. We are proud to say that this innovative and constantly evolving family of products is now being produced by Coroplast in Strzelce Opolskie.
